KESARI UKALA RECIPE

Saffron Kesari Ukala Tea is a traditional Maharashtrian wellness drink, infused with the golden richness of saffron, the warmth of spices, and the goodness of milk. This soothing blend not only delights your taste buds with its aromatic flavor but also boosts immunity, aids digestion, and calms the mind. Perfect for chilly evenings or as a nourishing bedtime drink, Kesari Ukala is a comforting cup of health and tradition in every sip.

Ingredients:

  • Milk or milk + water mix – 2 cups
  • Saffron Tree saffron strands (Kesar) – a few strands
  • Turmeric – ½ tsp
  • Black pepper – 2–3 crushed
  • Cardamom – 1–2 pods
  • Cinnamon – 1 small stick
  • Ginger – ½ inch (grated) or ½ tsp powder
  • Fennel seeds – ½ tsp
  • Sweetener of choice – jaggery, sugar, or honey (add honey only after cooling slightly)

Method:

  1. In a pan, heat the milk (or milk + water mix).
  2. Add saffron strands, turmeric, black pepper, cardamom, cinnamon, ginger, and fennel.
  3. Simmer on a low flame for 5–7 minutes to allow the spices to infuse.
  4. Sweeten with jaggery, sugar, or honey (if using honey, add after the drink cools a little).
  5. Strain into cups and serve hot.
